Make them follow existing laws and regulations!
PolyMet Fails! PolyMet's Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for its copper-nickel sulfide mine is inadequate and a supplemental or revised DEIS should be required, along with an additional public comment period. Please sign an online petition and contact your legislators.
The "EPA has determined that PolyMet's NorthMet DEIS is; Environmentally Unsatisfactory - Inadequate... our review has identified adverse environmental impacts that are of sufficient magnitude that EPA believes the proposed action must not proceed as proposed." From the Department of the Interior "The anticipated environmental impacts of the proposed action are not fully and fairly addressed in the DEIS."

Subject: Produce a supplemental or revised Draft Environmental Impact Statement
for PolyMet
To whom it may concern,
As outlined in the PolyMet mine proposal's draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS),
the mine poses severe and unacceptable threats to the environment of northeastern
Minnesota. It also puts taxpayers at risk of being forced to pay for clean-up. Additionally,
the review itself is incomplete, making a full and complete assessment of the project
impossible.
Therefore, we, the undersigned, formally request the responsible government agencies
produce a supplemental or revised draft EIS for the PolyMet mine proposal, complete with
an additional public comment period, before proceeding to the final Environmental Impact
Statement. This is what the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has also requested due
to the significant and unacceptable deficiencies in the draft EIS.
Sincerely,
